10,000km for Charity
In 2013, Reid Anderton smashed the Guinness World Record to win the title of the ‘fastest time to cycle around Australia’. Cycling for 37 days, 1 hour and 18 minutes, Reid cycled a total distance of 14,178km. In July he is hoping to claim another Guinness World Record title, this time for the ‘fastest to reach 10,000km cycling’. To achieve this feat, Reid will aim to ride 450km per day for a little over 22 days. For perspective, the image of Australia maps out what 10,000km looks like! (Reid will however not be following this path, he will be cycling a mapped out loop in his local area).
Although holding these titles stand as great personal achievements for Reid, his main goal for the upcoming challenge is to raise fund $100,000 for Charity Build and Eagle Wings. Royal Foods is proud to be a Gold Sponsor for Reid’s ride. Our General Manager, Malcolm van Basten is also a passionate cyclist and will be taking his support for the cause one step further on 20 June by cycling alongside Reid for 7-8 hours (200km) of his 24-hour ‘warm up’ ride.
We wish Reid and Malcolm all the best for their warm up ride and congratulate Reid for taking on such a demanding challenge to raise funds for charity.
